Community involvement

I'm involved, voluntarily, in two communities:

• The open source community through contributions to the Internet2 Grouper project
• With the local community through being a director and trustee of Broadlands pre-school centre

My involvement with Broadlands is not in a day-to-day management role (there is a committee of parents who run it), but to fulfil the required roles of director and trustee, each of which brings responsibilities. In addition to general oversight and financial responsibilities, I carry out long-running tasks which require continuity. For example, Broadlands has recently been ripped off by a local gardening contractor - Savery-Smith landscapes - which has taken money from Broadlands and failed to delivery materials and labour, and I'm perusing the company through the courts. Not glamorous but definitely required.
